Our paper with Jaderson G. Polli, Patrick Lanusse and Marcos G. E. da Luz explores the diversity of neuronal responses to kilohertz electrical stimulation. It was published in Physical Review E on 13 April 2026.
Using conductance-based neuron models, we map responses ranging from regular firing to chaotic dynamics and activity suppression. The study also shows that common simplifications of sodium-channel dynamics can become inaccurate at these frequencies.
The resulting dynamical atlas helps relate stimulation parameters to neuronal behaviour, providing a computational basis for investigating unconventional stimulation protocols.
